During a much-needed vacation, Ratchet and Clank have their rest interrupted when they are suddenly drawn into a mysterious mission. The intrepid duo follows in the footsteps of a kidnapped girl and discovers a forgotten race of ingenious inventors called technomites. They have soon revealed a conspiracy that is more dangerous than they could ever have imagined.

In addition to his faithful wrench, Ratchet has a number of old favorite weapons at his disposal, such as the acid bomb glove and the bi-mine glove, as well as the ability to mix and match his armor and use things like the sprout-o-matik gadget, with which he can control plants.
